Separate policy direction from the company’s validation results

Korea’s 2026 smart-agriculture implementation plan addresses economic viability, energy efficiency and field demonstrations. Even if a company’s technology fits that direction, whether energy savings or increased output have been demonstrated must be verified separately.

Design comparable conditions first

Energy comparisons are affected by the crop, cultivation area, outdoor temperature, temperature setpoints, equipment operating hours and production period. Record electricity and fuel consumption together with costs in Korean won, and document what changed between the baseline and improved operation. Operating-cost savings alone, without installation and maintenance costs, do not establish overall economic viability.

For productivity, distinguish total yield from marketable yield, grades, cultivation periods and labor hours to support operating decisions. Before extending a single favorable result to annual performance, IRUMJAE recommends examining differences in seasons and operating conditions.

Clearly label estimates and measured results

Distinguish measurements backed by original data, model-based simulations and assumptions not yet verified. Record simulation inputs and calculation methods, and do not present simulations as actual test results. Limit performance claims to what the validation evidence supports.

Preparation checklist

  • Baseline comparison and scope of the applied technology
  • Climate, crop and operating conditions
  • Original electricity, fuel and production data
  • Distinction between measurements and estimates
  • Economic analysis including installation and maintenance costs
