Separate project participation from support-program applications

The 2025 and 2026 consolidated notices introduce support programs linked to region-specific projects. The 2026 SMTECH notice specifies project-participant eligibility and the need to check individual program notices. Operating in the relevant region alone does not make a company eligible for every linked program.

Define the company’s growth tasks first

Identify the problems that need attention now, such as production quality, technology improvement, certification, staffing or overseas customers. If quality variation is the problem, first list the necessary diagnosis, testing and process improvements, then check whether the program supports that work. Reshaping the company’s task merely to fit a program name makes the execution plan unclear.

Compare eligible applicants, permitted activities, support periods, company contributions and deliverables in one table for each candidate program. Preferential conditions may differ by project, region and program; do not generalize a particular preference or limit to companies nationwide.

Connect the work in the notice to an implementation schedule

Separate evidence needed before application, work to be contracted after selection, and acceptance and expense settlement. Before including the same cost or deliverable in another program, check the rules on overlapping support. Retaining the original notice and your verification records makes it easier to identify changes for the next round.
